About

JD Scoop Photography is a passion born of my love of photography and storytelling.

I'm a longtime Camarillo resident who enjoys sharing my view of the world through my camera lens. My diverse mix of interests lends me to enjoy sports, animal, people and event photography.

My style is authentic, bold and fun.

A journalist by trade, I spent time studying at Ventura College and the University of Oregon. My 12 plus years at The Ventura County Star has provided an invaluable experience working alongside professional journalists and learning the craft.

It could be said that photography runs through my veins.

My grandmother, Jean Spencer, is a former columnist for The Star. She doubled as the first public information officer at Oxnard Community College. She did it all. Spencer wrote. She took photographs.

Growing up, I remembered stepping into the family darkroom built into her and my grandfather's garage. She had a knack for capturing human emotion: smiles, laughter, tears of joy and sadness. I strive to bring that same level of realism to my work.

I'm excited to create memorable visuals for you.
